When Jess Jackson produced his first Chardonnay in 1982, his goal used to be simply to create a wine that people of all levels of expertise could enjoy. Over three decades later, the circle of relatives-owned and operated Kendall-Jackson is without doubt one of the most trusted and celebrated wineries on the planet. For more than 25 years, the winery’s Vintner’s Reserve Chardonnay has been the #1 selling Chardonnay in the USA. One aspect that distinguishes Kendall-Jackson’s wines is vineyard sourcing. The majority of fruit sourced for Kendall-Jackson wines is grown on the 12,000 acres of estate vineyards owned by the Jackson circle of relatives. Right through the past three decades, the Jackson circle of relatives has acquired vineyard land situated in the cool coastal mountains, hillsides, ridges and benches of California’s Santa Barbara, Sonoma, Napa, Monterey, Mendocino and Lake Counties. This ensures that grapes are grown with specific care and low-yielding farming techniques to produce the very best quality fruit. All of our estate vineyards are certified sustainable by the CCSW (Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing) and SIP (Sustainability in Practice) programs. Each and every year, under the direction of winemaster Randy Ullom and winemaker Mark Theis, Kendall-Jackson conducts the largest barrel fermentation of Chardonnay on the planet. This labor-intensive process is used by all boutique wineries to create more texture and complexity in the wine. To guarantee a consistent source of high-quality oak for their barrels, the winery is in partnership with a stave mill in France and a cooperage in the USA. From the Vintner’s Reserve collection to the single-vineyard and other luxury class bottlings, Kendall-Jackson’s wines offer fruit-driven aromatics, strong varietal characteristics, remarkable balance and delicious flavors.
